Dr. Arjun Subramaniam, visiting fellow with the Harvard University Asia Center, will give a talk on 16 November on a book he wrote to highlight the contribution of India’s military in preserving and protecting democracy in India and to give military history its rightful place within India’s contemporary historical discourse. The talk would cover myriad aspects of the various wars and conflicts that India has fought since independence from colonial rule and attempt to weave a mosaic that covers strategy, operations and tactics that were employed.

Dr. Subramaniam is a recently retired Air Vice Marshal from the Indian Air Force and apart from being a fighter pilot, he is also a military historian and scholar with numerous writings on issues ranging from air power and leadership to military history and statecraft. He is currently researching and writing his sequel that he proposes to call ‘Full Spectrum: India’s Wars 1972-2015. He would also discuss the broad themes of his new work during the talk.
