The Southern Culture Movie Series features ten documentaries about the American South. The series is designed for UNC’s international students and scholars, but the films are free and open to all. Each film will be accompanied by a short discussion and followed by refreshments.

When New Orleans’ Mardi Gras Indian Chief Tootie Montana decides to come out of retirement and make one last Mardi Gras Indian suit, conflict erupts between Tootie and his son Darryl, to whom he earlier bequeathed the title of Chief. (2005, 93 min)
