The Health Sciences Library (HSL) will feature six Chatham County artists in an exhibit known as “ArtBrake.” The art ranges from sculpture made from gourds, jewelry, paintings and woodworking, and is on display on the first and second floors of the HSL until mid-August.

“ArtBrake” is the product of a group of artists who collaborated on a two-day tour of local artisans’ studios. The first tour was in 2012 and included four Chatham County based studios, all centrally located near the Frosty Trading Post. The group recently completed its second studio tour and has grown to include eleven artists with a variety of art forms. The name comes from the groups’ motto, “if you see a sign for art on the side of the road, brake!”

All of the art on display is available for sale. Contact Karen Crowell for a list of prices. Learn more about ArtBrake and its artists.
