9:30 a.m. Talk by Marc Lavine, Senior Editor at Science

What does it take to publish in Science and other high-impact journals? How can you become a more effective communicator of scientific ideas in many contexts?

Marc Lavine has been an editor at Science for 16 years and holds a Ph.D. in materials science from the University of Cambridge. He will describe the publication process at Science, including why papers are rejected. He will also discuss the broader context of developing skills for more effective scientific communication.
