In this talk, Afroz Taj and John Caldwell (both UNC-CH, Asian Studies) will explore the centrality of theater for the artist- and activist-collective Sahmat and its creative output. They will discuss the exhibition The Sahmat Collective in the context of theater, from Safdar Hashmi’s street theater to the “performance” of artworks like “Art on the Move” and the auto-rickshaw project “Slogans for Communal Harmony.”

The Ackland’s Art for Lunch series presents lunchtime talks designed to add a little bit of art exploration into your busy day. BYO bag lunch (yes, people do) and join us!
