Description: Sonya Clark served as Chair of the Craft and Material Studies Department at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2006 through 2017. In 2016, she was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award in Scholarship from the University. Formerly, she was Baldwin-Bascom Professor of Creative Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and was awarded their first Mid-Career Distinguished Alumni Award. She earned a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2015, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from Amherst College where she received her B.A. in psychology.
