Description: Jenny Tone-Pah-Hote’s research interests center upon American Indian history, material, and expressive culture. Her current project, a book manuscript based on her dissertation, entitled “Envisioning Nationhood: Kiowa Expressive Culture 1875-1939,” argues that expressive culture (beadwork, metalwork, painting, and dance) is a vital location through which the Kiowa, a tribe in Oklahoma have created, maintained, and reformulated the boundaries and bonds of their nation.
